NEW BED S/OF CONCRETE PATIO -- 4/2019
Mixture of soil pulled from raised beds where new patio is and a peat moss/perlite mixture.
Gets pretty good shade for some of afternoon. Planted peppers (Filius Blue, bell peppers, and giant jalapeno) just because I had a bunch of starts. But since they can handle heat better than a lot of what I want to grow, should probably grow something here in the future that could benefit from the shading.

The n/of concrete patio bed has been a really good spot for peppers. Partial jalapeno harvest.

The peppers like it here. Jalapeno and Filius Blue are thriving. The bell pepper is a bit of a dog, but is putting on fruit. None of the bell peppers I've planted (here, in the front yard area, two at mom's) have done very well.

Built these two raised bed gardens. Filled with excess soil (clay) from digging out patio and topped with a three-in-one potting soil. Concerned that these beds (against the south wall) will not get adequate sun in the winter, but we'll see.
Starting west bed with lettuce, cilantro (saved seed from last year's plants), and parsley (old seed). Have already seen lettuce germ, so that's encouraging.
In east bed, have planted a half-dozen seeds each from four varieties of tomatoes (Manitoba, Camp Joy, Atomic Grape, and Napa Rose Blush) with the intention of pricking them out into styrofoam cups and putting under lights if they germ okay. Also planted carrots and garlic.
